The Koramangala police have cracked the murder of a cab driver which took place near the Commercial Tax Office in Koramangala last week with the arrest of six suspects.
The police said money was the motive in the premeditated murder of Dinakar (34), who was hacked to death by eight men who had waited in an autorickshaw for him to emerge from his workplace.
The arrested men are Ashwath, Palani, Chetan, Jaffer, Shiva and Shankar. While a seventh man, Anand, is absconding, the eighth suspect, Saravana, committed suicide a few days ago out of guilt and fear.
The police said Dinakar had lent about Rs.16 lakh to the main accused, Ashwath, a few years ago and had been pestering him for its return. Ashwath told the police Dinakar had also misbehaved with his wife, which led him to conspire the murder with the others.
The police said Dinakar, a resident of Shamanna Gardens and Ashwath, a resident of J.P. Nagar, were close friends, who used to borrow from each other for financial deals.
Child killed at site
The young child of construction labourers, who was made to sleep on the site by his parents who were busy working, was killed when an earthmover ran over him in Raisandra village on Thursday afternoon. Parappana Agrahara police said Arjun (3) and his parents lived on the construction site.
Rider Preetish (28) was killed on spot and his pillion, Sriram, sustained injuries when a speeding lorry knocked down their motorbike on MES Ring Road in Yeshwantpur on Wednesday night.
The duo was returning home from work, Yeshwantpur police said.
A man on a motorcycle snatched a gold chain worth around Rs.1.25 lakh from a woman in HRBR Layout on Wednesday night when she was returning home from a shop with her husband, Hennur police said.
