Members of the local unit of the Youth Congress took out a procession and staged dharna outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Tuesday in protest against the alleged derogatory statements made by G. Madhusudhan, MLC, against Tipu Sultan.
There was nothing new about the State government’s decision to set up a Central university in Srirangapatna and name it after Tipu Sultan because the Union government had already approved it. BJP leaders and others who were opposing the proposalshould read history books to understand the secular and patriotic qualities of Tipu Sultan, they said.
