Tarikere MLA Suresh has tendered resignation to Speaker K.G. Bopaiah at his office in Madikeri on Friday, according to information reaching here.

Mr. Suresh, who came from Bangalore to submit the papers met Mr. Bopaiah at his office in the Fort in Madikeri around 6.35 p.m. Mr. Bopaiah, who received the resignation told presspersons that he would act on it only after reaching his office in Bangalore on Monday.

Mr. Suresh told presspersons that he was impressed by the administration of the former Chief Minister, B.S. Yeddyurappa in and was tendering resignation to join the Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP).

Earlier, in the absence of Mr. Bopaiah in the State Secretariat, Mr. Suresh handed over the resignation letter to P. Omprakash, Secretary of the Legislative Assembly, in Bangalore.

With this, the number of BJP MLAs who have resigned has gone up to 14. Already, the Speaker has accepted the resignation of 12 MLAs.

The resignation of Vittal Katakdonda has not been accepted on technical grounds.
