Says an officers’ meet will soon be convened to discuss it

H. Anjaneya, MLA, has stated that a meeting of officers concerned will soon be convened to discuss the reasons for excluding Holalkere taluk from the upper Bhadra project and ensure that it gets included. If necessary, the issue will be taken up with the new Chief Minister, he said.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, Mr. Anjaneya said that Holalkere taluk had not been included in the project because of the negligence of the former legislator M. Chandrappa, who looted public money in the name of development of the constituency. “As the project will be beneficial to people in the constituency, the issue will be taken up with the officers concerned at the earliest,” he reiterated.

Efforts would be made to provide basic facilities to people. During the election campaign, voters had complained that because of erratic supply of power, their normal life had been affected. “Farmers were unable to feed water to their standing crops owing to erratic power supply and they had incurred huge losses,” he said. Asked about the Chief Ministerial candidate of the Congress, Mr. Anjaneya said that the subject would be discussed at the party meeting and a final decision would be taken by the high command. “Congress legislators will abide by the order of the high command,” he said.

To another question, Mr Anjaneya said that he was also a veteran leader of the Congress and ready to take up any responsibility that high command would give. There was no question of seeking a ministerial berth. The party high command would take proper decisions at the right time, he said. District Youth Congress vice-president Marularadhya was present.
