Order a thorough probe: KRRS

The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha has alleged that Mayakonda legislator and chairman of the Tanda Abhivrudhdhi Nigam Basavaraj Naik has misused the MLA’s local area development fund by releasing grants to an educational institution run by him. The sangha has also alleged that the district administration had supported the legislator in the release of grants.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, general secretary of the district unit of the sangha K. Shekar Naik demanded that a high-level inquiry be ordered into the misuse of funds by the legislator, even as the district administration was trying to hush up the issue.

Complaints

Although several complaints had been made to the district administration in this regard, a fair inquiry had not been conducted.

There was no response to several letters written to the authorities concerned in Bangalore either, he said.

Under Secretary to the government S. Umapathy, who examined the file, had taken exception to the district administration allowing the legislator to release funds to his own educational institution, he said and urged the latter to make the institution concerned return the grants received by it.
