Shops, hotels and other business establishments down shutters

GULBARGA: The response here to the bandh call given by the Left parties on Friday against the increase in the prices of petroleum products was mixed.

Shops, hotels and other business establishments remained closed till evening at the busy Super Market, Kirana Bazaar, Kapada Bazaar and Nehru Gunj areas. The response from shop owners to the bandh call was good in other parts of the city.

Transport was not affected in the district as the North Eastern Road Transport Corporation, private bus operators and autorickshaws operated their services as usual.

Members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Communist Party of India led by the State Secretariat member of the CPI(M), Maruti Manpade, and the CPI district unit secretary, Shoukat Ali Alur, took out a procession in the city raising slogans against the Centre for increasing the prices of petroleum products.
