Minister for Woman and Child Development C.C. Patil has promised residents of Yare Beleri village, which was inundated by flood waters, that he will speak to the Chief Minister and get those who lost standing crop early compensation.
He was speaking to them after paying a visit to the village on Wednesday evening along with senior officials.
Mr. Patil said that the State Government was committed to permanently shifting up to 150 houses to a new rehabilitation centre on the outskirts of the village. He said that priority would be given for the displaced people.
The Minister said that if the villagers came forward to give land for the rehabilitation of flood affected people, houses would be built at the earliest. “I will speak to the Housing Minister to take an immediate decision in the matter,” he said.
The Minister told the villagers that he would direct the officials concerned to visit the village for assessing damage and fixing compensation.
Mr. Patil said that a draft proposal had been prepared for construction of a bridge across the stream between Huyilagola and Kiratageri. The bridge would be completed before the end of the year.
