The Lokayukta police caught a Bescom official while allegedly accepting bribe worth Rs. 25,000 to shift an electrical line.

Singri Gowda, a meter reader at the Chikalasandra Bescom office, was caught following a complaint filed by electrical contractor Jagadeesh, a resident of J.P. Nagar 8th Phase. The complaint said Mr. Gowda allegedly sought the amount for spot inspection and work estimate, both prerequisites for approval to shift lines, a Lokayukta release said. Mr. Jagadeesh was working for his client, Raju Aralli, also a J.P. Nagar resident. Mr. Gowda was caught while allegedly accepting the bribe in a public place, the release said.
