Udupi: You have to pass through a metal detector to enter the Udupi City Municipality (CMC) office now. What’s more, your activities are now monitored by closed circuit television cameras installed at important locations on the CMC premises.

According to in-charge Commissioner of Udupi City Municipal Council Gokuldas Nayak, the metal detector and the CCTV cameras had been installed after intelligence reports of a terrorist threat to the Krishna temple/math and the CMC office here.

A large of people including the general public and the officials keep visiting the CMC office daily. After the intelligence reports, the metal detector had been installed by the CMC. The CMC has spent Rs. 45,000 on the installation of the metal detector. As many as 16 CCTV cameras would be installed at important locations of the office.
