Non-Congress members say meetings are not being held regularly

DAVANGERE: Non-Congress members of the Davangere Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) have decided to lay siege the APMC on Wednesday and later resign in protest against the alleged misadministration by president of the APMC Mudegowdra Girish.

Speaking to presspersons here on Friday B.M. Sathish Kolenahalli, Rudraswamy, Veerabhadrappa, Nageshwara Rao and many others who are directors of the APMC and belong to the Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal (Secular) alleged that though there were instructions from the Government that all APMCs should hold a meeting once in a month for the transaction of business, the meeting had not been convened regularly. They claimed that they had exposed certain cases of corruption in the APMC in the last few months and the president had not convened the meeting.

They said the president had convened a meeting on Thursday in a hurried manner informing few members in the last minute. They claimed he asked presspersons to leave the meeting hall though there was a order from the Government that every meeting shall be open to the public unless the presiding authority deemed an inquiry or deliberation pending before the committee should be held in camera.

The members questioned the propriety of sending out the journalists from the meeting and they expressed doubt that the President thought that his misdeeds would be exposed in the Press.

Mr. Kolenahalli questioned why the meeting was convened in such short notice and said the notice should be sent to all members two days earlier.
