50 specialists from super-speciality hospitals across the State to participate

Sriramulu will inaugurate the camp on Thursday

Free treatment will be provided to 402 patients

Raichur: A mega health camp under Vajpayee ArogyaSri Yojana will be held at the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences here on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner V. Anbukkumar said here on Tuesday that 50 specialists from super-speciality hospitals across the State would participate in the camp.

The camp was being conducted jointly by the district administration, the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Raichur Zilla Panchayat and the ArogyaSri Yojana Trust.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare B. Sriramulu will inaugurate the camp and Syed Yasin MLA will preside over the inauguration programme. Minister for Fisheries and Science and Technology and district in-charge Anand Asnotikar, Minister for Adult Education K. Shivangouda Naik, MPs S. Fakkirappa and Shivaramegouda, MLAs and MLCs and elected representatives from zilla panchayat and civic bodies will participate.

Mr. Anbukkumar said that patients requiring higher treatment and surgeries would referred to super-speciality hospitals.

The department concerned had already screened 5,602 patients and 831 of them would undergo more tests at the camp. Free treatment would be provided to 402 patients. He said that patients from BPL families who had been screened and identified at taluk health units should bring their referral letters from the doctors concerned.

There will be bus facility from all taluks to the camp.

Panduranga Poojari, District Health and Family Welfare Officer, was present.
