The two-day conference of the Karnataka Patrakartara Sangha in Gerusuppa of Uttara Kannada district, which begins on Saturday, would discuss several issues related to journalism, including its role in protecting democratic values, transparency and information delivery.

Discussions are likely on yellow journalism, paid news and lack of accountability, after a corrupt practice coming to light. Sangha president Murgesh Shivapuji said here on Thursday that the conference was being held at a time when the role of journalists in certain scams was being questioned.

The conference will be inaugurated by Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda.
