The Karnataka Vidyavardhaka Sangha will organise the two-day national-level Horanadu Kannada Sanghagala Mahamela (Convention of the Kannada organisations from outside Karnataka) at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh from February 25.

A release by the sangha president Patil Puttappa stated that it was the second such event organised by the sangha to forge unity among the Kannadigas residing in different States.

Commending the efforts of the Kannadigas in other States in preserving and conserving the Kannada language, culture and heritage, Mr. Puttappa said the Kannadigas outside the State were a step ahead in matters of language and culture than the Kannadigas residing within Karnataka. They have set up the Kannada organisations and they organise a variety of programmes to preserve and protect Kannada culture and thus are the ambassadors of Karnataka.

The sangha is organising the Horanadu Kannada Sammelan to build a network of various Kannada sanghas functioning in different States. The sangha intends to create a platform for members of Kannada sanghas to interact, he added. Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court V. Gopal Gowda will inaugurate the convention.

Minister for Law and Urban Development Suresh Kumar will release a souvenir during the convention.

Seer Chandrashekhar Shivacharya Swami of Jangamawadi Math and Varanasi and Nijagunanada Swami of Nishkala Mantapa will take part in the convention.
