Mandya District Congress Committee (MDCC) spokesperson T.S. Sathyananda on Saturday demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the Mandya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment case, in which a few prominent politicians from the district are allegedly involved.
Srirangapatna MLA A.B. Ramesh Babu Bandisiddegowda, former MLAs M. Srinivas and C.S. Puttaraju, the former MUDA chairperson Vidya Nagendra and Mandya City Municipal Council member M.J. Chikkanna are accused persons in the case.
MUDA allotted 107 sites to the accused persons, employees of MUDA and their relatives in Vivekananda Layout here, he told press persons.
Retired Deputy Director of Public Instruction Siddaramaiah told press persons here on Saturday that he would contest the forthcoming MP elections from the Mandya constituency as an independent candidate. Nagamangala MLA N. Cheluvarayaswamy had vacated the Mandya MP seat to contest the Assembly elections. The by-poll for the seat will be held on August 21. He requested the voters to support him.

H. Honnappa, senior BJP leader from Mandya, has been elected as the new president of the Mandya BJP unit in a meeting convened at ‘Someshwara Samudaya Bhavan’ here on Friday.
S. Hemanth Babu and K. Naganna Gowda have been elected as general secretaries of the party, party said here on Saturday.
