Political parties and candidates contesting the May 5 Assembly polls should compulsorily obtain permission from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) before releasing any advertisements through the print or electronic media. In a press release issued here on Saturday, Deputy Commissioner and the District Election Officer J .Ravi Shankar has said that the MCMC office had set up an office on the premises of the District Information Department, behind the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Political parties and contestants can contact the officers concerned for details. Stern action would be initiated against those releasing advertisements without permission, the release said. — Staff Correspondent
