The Mangalore City Corporation officials on Saturday commenced work on clearing encroachments along the drain near Kottara Chowki.

The work started around 9 a.m. with a team of officials led by Commissioner K.N. Vijayaprakash coming to the area with an excavator to clear the clogged drain. Mr. Vijayaprakash said encroachments led to frequent water logging at Kottara Chowki and surrounding areas. The corporation was spending about Rs. 1.1 crore to develop the drain.
