BANGALORE: Come Friday, and over 70 top international and Indian players will battle it out to conquer this war of words.
This three-day annual tournament will be held at the iGate corporate headquarters at Whitefield and is being conducted in association with the Karnataka State Scrabble Association (KSSA). This is the sixth consecutive year this competition is being hosted here. With reward money worth Rs. 4 lakh on the line, teams from U.K., Singapore, Thailand, New Zealand, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain will compete in this one of its kind event. In all, 24 games, each 50 minutes long, will be played over three days. The word source for the tournament will be the official Collins Scrabble Tournament and Club Wordlist, which is used the world over in scrabble tournaments (except in North America). The rules will be based on the World English Scrabble Players’ Association recommendations.
