GULBARGA: Maxicab operators in Gulbarga district went on a snap strike on Tuesday to protest against the alleged illegal operation of private buses. The maxicab operators, supported by the district unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), took out a procession from Nehru Gunj with their vehicles to the RTO office on Sedam Road. They said that private luxury buses which were operating on the routes they operated on was eating into the little revenue they earned.

They said that the operation of private luxury buses on the Gulbarga to Chincholi route had left them high and dry with their average earnings coming down drastically. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the officials of the Transport Department.
