Bangalore: The Krishnapur Math, one of the eight maths of Udupi, has moved the High Court of Karnataka against what it alleged is a covert move by the Deputy Commissioner of Udupi and the Land Acquisition Officer of Kundapur in acquiring land belonging to the math for constructing an underground drain.

The math said it had no objection to the construction of the drain. However, the authorities wanted to acquire the land for construction of a road.

Justice Mohan Shantangouder ordered issue of notices to the authorities. He also made it clear, in an interim order, that the land should be used for the purpose for which it has been notified.
