The eight-day Maha Mastakabhisheka to the statue of Gomateshwara at Venoor in Dakshina Kannada would begin on January 28, 2012, according to V. Dhananjaya Kumar, working president, Venoor Sri Bahubali Maha Mastakabhisheka Committee.

He told presspersons in Venoor on Sunday that the last Maha Mastakabhisheka to the 35 ft. high monolith statute of Bahubali had been held in 2000, for nine days from February 10.

Mr. Kumar said cultural programmes would be held for eight days. Mr. V. Dhananjaya Kumar said the State government had released Rs. 2 crore for building a “choultry” for pilgrims at Venoor and building scaffolding for Mastakabhisheka which would end on February 5, 2012.
