It irrigates nearly 3,000 hectares in 20 villages

Lingsugur (Raichur dist.): Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy dedicated the Maskinala Project to the nation on Thursday.

The Maskinala Project, constructed across a nallah near Maraladinni village in Lingsugur taluk, has a storage capacity of about half tmc ft and irrigates nearly 3,000 hectares in 20 villages in the taluk. The work on the project commenced 25 years ago and was completed in March 2002 and was pending formal inauguration. An amount of Rs. 50 crore was spent on the project.

The Chief Minister arrived here at 5.35 p.m. after attending a function at Gangavathi in Koppal district. Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated the completed work on Rampur Lift Irrigation Scheme and the Anehosur Lift Irrigation Scheme in the taluk.

Schools opened

Later, he also inaugurated the Morarji Desai Residential School in Adavibhavi village, a 100-bed Government Hospital and the Government Model High School in Lingsugur town. He released 10 new buses allotted to the Lingsugur depot.

He laid the foundation stone for the Morarji Desai Residential School in Devarabhupur village, a bus stand and the Government Degree College in Maski town and 110 kv sub-station in Mudgal town. He also laid foundation stone for the Backward Class and Minority Hostel in Muttur village in Lingsugur taluk.

Ministers K.S. Eshwarappa, N. Cheluvaraya Swamy, R.Ashok, Hanumanthappa Alkod, Sharanabasappa Darshanapur and the former Minister and Lingsugur MLA Amaregouda Bayyapur were present.
