The articles and columns related to health issues that were published in various newspapers and periodicals in Kannada need to be compiled and published as books, said writer H.D. Chandrappa Gowda. He was inaugurating the district-level literary meet of medical profession in the city on Sunday.
He was happy that young doctors took to writing seriously. Medicos should employ writing as a means to enlighten the people on the issues related to health, he said.
Psychiatrist K.A. Ashok Pai suggested the medicos who had taken up writing on issues related to health to avoid sensationalism. Doctors should realise that writing was a means of consultation and treatment, he said.
Kiran Desai of Kamala Nehru National College for Women spoke on the contribution of Shimoga district to the stream of health literature.
The programme was organised by Vaidya Sahitya Parishat and the Indian Medical Association. Parishat president K.R. Sridhar, vice-president C.G. Keshavamurthy, and N.L. Naik were present.
