A realtor tried to kill his cousin by opening fire from his licensed double barrel gun over a property dispute in HSR Layout here on Tuesday evening, according to the police.

Narayana Reddy and his friend Matma Reddy were injured after Manjunatha Reddy, who was in an inebriated state, opened a fire at them when they came to talk to him about a share in the ancestral property, the police said. The police said that Narayana Reddy visited the disputed land on 3rd Cross, Sector II of HSR Layout, around 6.30 p.m. when the incident happened. Manjunatha Reddy, accompanied by his father, Ananthrama Reddy, came to the spot and soon a verbal altercation ensued between them.

Manjunatha Reddy pulled out his gun from the car and fired two rounds at Narayana Reddy and Matma Reddy.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) P.S. Harsha said that a case has been booked against Manjunatha Reddy and Ananthrama Reddy.

“There was a property dispute between Manjunatha Reddy and his cousin Narayana Reddy. They used to fight over the matter. On Tuesday evening also an argument took place between them,” he said.

The father and the son are absconding, Mr. Harsha said.
