BANGALORE: The Yelahanka police have arrested Muniraj (20) of Jakkur for allegedly stealing computers from the store room of the Horticulture and Business Management Department of the University Agricultural Sciences here.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East) Basavaraj Malagatti, the store room has about 500 brand new computers.
Muniraj (20), who had undertaken electrical repair works in the department, was aware of it, according to the police.
“Twice before, he had broken open the windows of the store room and taken away CPUs and LCD monitors.
“The university personnel, who were not aware of the theft then, had got the window repaired,” Mr. Malagatti said.
However, Muniraj was not lucky the third time as the university personnel lodged a complaint about the theft of CPUs and LCD monitors and the police caught the accused.
The police have recovered CPUs and LCD monitors valued at Rs. 3.13 lakh, Mr. Malagatti added.
Four persons accused in a double murder case reported on May 12 at Devanahalli have been arrested by the Devanahalli police. Two businessmen, Subramani (28) and Munegowda (28), were hacked to death on that day after they reportedly refused to agree to a settlement in a case of assault.
The police gave the names of the accused as S. Manjunath (23), Manjunath (24), R. Dinesh Kumar (20) and P. Balakrishna (19). The police said the accused fled to Penukonda in Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh after the crime. A city police team tracked them down there.
Two motorcycle-borne persons reportedly snatched a 40-gram gold chain of Natarajan in Ramesh Kumar Road in Banaswadi police station limits on Saturday night. The Banaswadi police have registered a case.
