A 21-year-old man, who was in love with a politician's daughter, was hacked to death near Kanakapura in Ramanagaram district on Monday morning.

The dead was identified as M. Muniraju, a cook, of Halegabbadi village. Muniraju's father, Muddappa, has filed a complaint against a gram panchayat member and four others, at the Harohalli police station.

“Muniraju was found murdered near Narayana Convention Hall near his village. We are investigating the case,” K. Ramakrishna, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Ramanagaram Sub-Division), told The Hindu .

According to Muddappa, his son was in love with Halegabbadi Gram Panchayat Vice-President Malappa's daughter.

However, a few months ago Mallappa had warned Muniraju to keep away from the girl.

“Mallappa, Shiva, Raja and others took Muniraju to an isolated place near Halegabbadi Gate of Kanakapura Road and hacked him to death,” Mr. Muddappa has alleged in his complaint.
