The Second City Fast Track Sessions Court on Wednesday sentenced a man to seven years' simple imprisonment on finding him guilty of robbery.

Manjunath alias Koli Manja (25) caused grievous injury to Vikas (18) when the latter refused to give money collected during the Ganesh festival.

On September 6, 2008, Manja came to the pandal in Manjunathnagar 3rd Phase where Vikas and his four friends had installed the Ganesh idol.

Manja asked Vikas for the collection, but the teenager said he didn't have it with him.

Angered, Manja slit Vikas's throat and snatched his cellphone.

Vikas was immediately hospitalised, which saved his life.

The Basaveshwaranagar police arrested Manja and charged him for the crime. Public Prosecutor B. Laxman adduced evidence of the witnesses.

Fast Track Sessions Court Judge G.S. Revankar convicted Manja for robbery and criminal intimidation.
