BANGALORE: A youth caught a man and handed him over to the police while the latter reportedly tried to rob a woman of her valuables in Banasawadi police limits here on Saturday.

The police said the victim, Mourin, was inside a parked car when the accused tried to snatch her bag after throwing chilly powder on her.

As she raised an alarm, Shyam Shobhu, a native of Nagaland, chased the accused and caught him. The police gave the name of the accused as Sundar (28), resident of Jeevanahalli.


There was tension at J.J. Nagar junction on Mysore Road for a while on Saturday when a multi-utility escort vehicle of the Raj Bhavan hit a two-wheeler.

Following the accident, miscreants assaulted the multi-utility vehicle’s driver Narayana Jetty and also made an attempt to damage the vehicle.

After learning about the incident, the Byatarayanapura police rushed to the spot and dispersed the mob.

Narayana Jetty, a constable attached to the CAR, was driving the vehicle to the CAR Head Quarters on Mysore Road around 11 p.m. The vehicle hit the two-wheeler which J.J. Nagar resident Amjad Khan was riding.

A case has been registered. A search is on for the miscreants.

Passenger dies

A 52-year-old man died on the spot after he fell from a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus near Moodalapalya Circle here on Sunday.

The accident occurred around 6.30 a.m. The name and other details of the victim are yet to be ascertained, said the Byatarayanapura traffic police.


The K.P. Agrahara police on Saturday arrested Madresh alias Madurai, Prabha alias Katu, Vijay Kumar alias Viji, Umesh and Manjunath in connection with the murder of Sharavana alias Kariya (21).

Kariya, a resident of Gangappa Garden near K.P. Agrahara, was hacked to death on March 23 due to enmity and financial matters, the police said.
