BANGALORE: Unable to bear harassment by her husband, a 65-year-old woman allegedly bludgeoned him to death in a vacant site off Hosur Road in Wilson Garden police station limits on Monday.
According to the police, Arjunappa (75), a rag picker, was living with his wife, Channamma (65), in a makeshift tent in the vacant site. Arjunappa, who had the habit of consuming alcohol, had frequent quarrels with his wife and allegedly harassed her.
The police said they suspected Channamma’s hand in Arjunappa’s death because of the frustration caused to her by his harassment. “We are collecting more evidence to be sure of this,” said an officer involved in the investigation. The police have recovered the stone that was used in the crime. The Wilson Garden police are investigating the case.
Manoj Kumar Menon (28), employee of a software company in Koramangala, was killed when he fell off his two-wheeler on Bannerghatta Road near Bilekahalli on Monday. The police said Menon, a native of Kerala, was returning home near Meenakshi Temple when the accident occurred. The police said Menon lost control over the vehicle and hit a median. He died on the spot.
A 19-year-old youth, who was charged with dacoity and theft, was murdered by members of a rival gang in Pattergarpalya in Vijayanagar police station limits on Monday. The police said three persons attacked Chandra, a resident of Pattergarpalya, with machetes. Chandra died on the spot.
A woman aged around 35 reportedly committed suicide, the City Railway police said. The identity of the woman is yet to be ascertained. The body was found on the railway tracks between the city station and Malleswaram station. The police said that the woman had left behind a note in which she said that no one was responsible for her action. They also found a handbag which had a Bhagavad Gita and another religious book.
