Frustrated by the alleged torture faced from the KSRTC Kollegal depot manager, driver Manju Madaiah made an attempt to commit suicide by consuming pesticides in front of the Kollegal KSRTC bus depot, here on Wednesday.

It is said that Manju Madiah (35), who was working as the driver at the KSRTC bus depot, Kollegal, took the extreme step unable to bear the alleged torture by bus depot manager Chenna chunchaiah. In his death note addressed to Chamarajanagar Divisional Controller Parthasarathy, Mr. Madaiah has written about the trouble he faced because of the depot manager.

He said that the depot manager denied Mr. Madaiah any leaves, even when his wife was admitted to Malavalli Hospital and during his sister's wedding. He was allegedly forced to give Rs. 200 as bribe to the bus depot manager everyday.

Mr. Madaiah was admitted to the ICU unit of K.R. Hospital, Mysore.

As soon as the news of Mr. Madaiah's suicide attempt spread in town, KSRTC bus-drivers stopped all bus services and rushed to Mysore. The drivers urged the KSRTC authorities to take stringent action against the depot manager.

Meanwhile, the divisional controller visited the hospital and took the steps to ensure proper treatment. The Kollegal police have registered a case.
