Udupi: A team of Excise Department arrested a person for ferrying liquor at the Railway Station here on Monday.

According to a press release, Dhirendra Kumar Singh from Patna in Bihar was carrying 315 litres of Goa fenny in five bags and eight suitcases at the railway station. He claimed himself to be an officer of a lieutenant’s rank in Indian Navy with the Railway authorities by producing a fake identity card. He had got a warrant to carry the liquor from the Railway Department. The value of the liquor seized is estimated at Rs. 70,000.

The accused is said to have misused warrants worth Rs. 1.47 lakh and cheated the Railway Department. A case has been registered.
