Bangalore: A rich mix of colour, design and fabric were a treat to the eyes at the graduation show of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) here on Sunday.

Titled “Design Showcase 2009”, the programme is an annual event that displays the graduation collection, which is a creative statement by students of Fashion Design, Accessory Design and Textile Design courses at NIFT. The ramp showcased trendsetting designs by students of the Fashion Design department, while those of the Accessory Design and Textile Design departments exhibited their creations.

Those showcased were Prachi Chapperwal’s “High School Romance”, Gayathri Shet’s display of “Madhubani”, an Indian art on appealing textures, Deepak Patwa’s “Repsychecled” and Dennis Theo’s “Other side of her”, highlighting the elegance of the modern woman. Christina M. Hungel transformed the traditional “lungi” into a high-fashion design-wear, while Dilip Kumar Mathur’s “Electro eternity” sparked magic with electric colours and dynamic fabrics.

Award-winners in various categories of Fashion Design, Accessory Design and Textile Design were felicitated at the show, sponsored by the Commissionerate of Handlooms and Textiles and Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited.
