The youth should make use of their potential to transform India into a strong nation, said Raghuveeranand Swami of Sri Ramakrishna Vivekanand Ashram.
He was speaking after inaugurating a seminar, organised as part of Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary celebrations by the State Information Centre here on Thursday.
He delivered a lecture on the ‘Role of the youth in nation-building’.
The swami stated that although Swami Vivekananda had grown up as a normal youth, he was able to conquer the world spiritually through his determination, courage and studiousness.
The swami called upon the youth to develop their future by imbibing the values advocated by Swami Vivekananda.
“There is a proposal to install a 50-foot statue of Swami Vivekananda at Unakal Lake here. The existing statue will be replaced,” said H.R. Dayagodi, councillor. Jnananand Swami of the ashram and S.B. Halyal, president of the School Development and Monitoring Committee, spoke.
Dignitaries gave away prizes to winners of essay, elocution and painting competitions held as part of the birth anniversary celebrations. Principal of the college M.K. Belagali presided over the function.
