A.M. Bhaskar, Syndicate member of the University of Mysore, on Saturday appealed to Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar to direct officials to hand over the residence of R.K. Narayan to the varsity to develop it as an educational and literary centre.

In a memorandum submitted to Mr. Shettar, Mr. Bhaskar welcomed the decision of the government to include Narayan’s house in the heritage buildings list. The house should remain an active centre of literary activities, he said. The house could be developed into a vibrant centre from which students and writers would benefit immensely, Mr. Bhaskar said.
