The city’s roads are riddled with potholes and the BBMP claims that it has filled a majority of them. According to A.H. Basavaraju, chairperson of BBMP’s standing committee for ward-level works, as many as 42,204 potholes were identified in eight zones.

He claimed that the civic body had already covered 76 per cent of them, as many as 32,402. He said that the pothole filling drive had been taken up as emergency work, following the directions of Mayor B.S. Sathyanarayana and BBMP Commissioner M. Lakshminarayana.

Mayor Sathyanarayana said that there were some labour problems and that the zonal engineers had been directed to hire extra labourers and fill all the potholes in their jurisdictions on a priority basis.
