It includes a range of paintings and a sculptural installation in fibreglass
Gallery Sumukha, in association with Weiling Contemporary, Malaysia, will showcase an exhibition of artist Paresh Maity's works here.
The exhibition includes a series of paintings, spread on canvas with oils, and the sculptural installation in fibreglass that depict man and woman, demonstrating the multiple facets of human relationships.
Through these works, the New Delhi-based artist attempts to show the many emotions that prevail between two people — their love, closeness, and happiness, as well as their sorrows and disappointments, their failures and triumphs.
Light is a crucial component in all of Mr. Maity's works and the bronze sculpture, Face of the World, is one such piece where light plays the central role.
Maity studied at the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata and College of Art, New Delhi.
His works have been shown at a number of solo exhibitions and group participations throughout India, and in Germany, the U.K., USA and Singapore. His last exhibition at the Art Stage Singapore 2010, concentrated on his installation and structural creations.
The exhibition, beginning on September 28, is on till October 5, between 10.30 a.m. and 6 p.m. (Monday to Saturday) at the Galley Sumukha, 24/10 BTS Depot Road, Wilson Garden. Call 22292230.
