Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles on Wednesday launched its fully automatic transmission electric car, e2o, that can clock 100 km per one full recharge of five hours, for the Bangalore market.

Priced at Rs. 7.01 lakh on road, the e2o, weighing 830 kg, can seat four adults, including the driver. At the launch here, Chetan Maini, Mahindra Reva’s chief of strategy and technology, said the e2o is powered with lithium-ion batteries and runs on three-phase electric motor on auto-drive mode.

Recharge

Besides regular recharge of batteries through a 15A socket either at home or office, the battery can be recharged though solar panels too. Also, 100 public recharging points have been installed across Bangalore for emergency requirements. Revive, a remote emergency charge, is activated through the smartphone application, and can drive the car for about 10 km, Mr. Maini said.

Chief of operations R. Chandramouli said State Bank of India offers seven-year loan to buy e2o and the EMI comes to Rs. 9,250.

He said the company has been pressing the Karnataka government to offer subsidies to encourage people to buy the green vehicle.

The car is available for about Rs. 6 lakh on road in Delhi thanks to subsidies there.
