Cultural programmes relating to Madikeri Dasara celebrations will begin at the Cauvery Kala Kshetra in Madikeri from September 28 to October 6. All programmes would start from 6 p.m. according to information received here on Wednesday.
Madikeri Dasara Cultural Committee president H.T. Anil said Vidyabhushana would render devotional songs, “Bhakti Sudha”, for the first time in Madikeri Dasara on September 30, Mr. Anil said.
On the same day, Prabhakar Upadhyaya would perform “Yaksha Darpana”, a Yakshagana programme. Ganapathi Bhat would present the classical “whistle” performance on the occasion.
On September 28, the ‘Hrishikesh Bhakti Vrinda' from Kasaragod would present devotional songs, Subraya Sampaje would present ‘vachana vaachana', Roopa Upadhyaya Bharatanatya, B.R. Satish would present art demonstration and the special children from the SWASTHA' rehabilitation centre at Sunticoppa would come out with drama Onake Obavva while Muliya Jewellers from Gonicoppa would come up with dance feature Krishnavatara , Mr. Anil added.
Light music programmes led by Sangeeta Balachandra from Udupi would be staged on September 29, apart from ‘whistle' music performance by Madhava Bhat from Sagar, Bharatanatya by Shankaraiah and team and dance by Pushpanjali troupe from Sunticoppa.
On October 1, students of the Jaganmohana Natyalaya from Virajpet would present Bharatanatya, Sneha Sangama artists would present light music, apart from cultural programmes by Mogera Samaja, dance by the Cauvery Kala parishat from Kushalnagar and dance by the artists from Veerabhoomi, neaer Kushalnagar, Mr. Anil stated.
On the next day, Vinod Karkera and team would render cultural dances, members of the Sharada Kendra from Kushalnagar would present Bharatanatya, cultural progammes would be presented by Gowda Cultural Forum, dance programme by ‘Dazzling Stars' led by Suju Devaiah and Bharatanatya by Natyanjali Samste. The focus would shift from the Cauvery Kala Kshetra to the Gandhi maidan on October 3. A huge sand sculpture of ‘Mahishasura Mardhini' on sand would be on show at the Central Workshop area at the Gandhi Maidan from 10 a.m. onwards, Mr. Anil said.
Mysore's artist Gowri is coming up with a sculpture measuring 30 feet in width and 15 feet in height. The much looked forward to event by the youth, ‘Yuva Dasara', would be held on the same day evening.
On October 4, the spotlight will be on the ‘Nage Habba' (humour show) by Richar Louis, Mysore Anand and team followed by dance feature by Sourabha Sangeeta Nritya Kala Parishat of Madikeri.
The Natya Niketana team from Madikeri would present dance feature Girija Kalyana on the evening of October 5, Veerendra Hiremath would present songs, Nagendra Rao and troupe from Mysore would present light music, ‘Angel Dance Mantra' team from Sunticoppa would present a variety of cultural programmes. The Ayudha Puja celebrations would be held on the same evening, Mr. Anil said.
The Ramanjaneya Bhajana Mandali from Madikeri would come up with ‘Bhakti Sudhe', devotional songs programme on October 6 followed by Ambale Hemanta-Herambha brothers with flute recital and ‘Nava Durga Vybhava' dance feature by the ‘Ocean Kids', Madikeri.
A huge signboard would be put up at the Cauvery Kala Kshetra on the variety of cultural programmes coming up during the Dasara cultural presentations, Mr. Anil added.
