The Madiga Dandora Meesalaithi Horata Samiti today demanded internal reservation for the Madiga community in the quota fixed for people belonging to Scheduled Caste communities along the pattern followed in Tamil Nadu, where separate reservation is provided to the Madiga community.

Vice-president of the samiti Vijaykumar, who is leading a cycle jatha from Bidar to Bangalore demanding international reservation, told presspersons here on Thursday that the State Government should pass a resolution in this regard in the next session of the Assembly and send the proposal to the Union Government.

Mr. Vijaykumar said the State Government should ask the Justice A.J. Sadashiva Commission to look into the Tamil Nadu pattern and submit recommendations. Demanding abolition of the contract system in the appointment of the pourakarmikas in urban civic bodies, he said pourakarmikas working on a contract basis should be regularised immediately, as well as Group D employees working in government departments on a daily wage and contract basis.

He said the Government should also write off the loans taken by Madigas from the Ambedkar Development Corporation as a one-time measure and constitute a separate development corporation for them.
