Driver, house owner’s wife in hospital

HASSAN: A lorry loaded with wooden logs rammed an electric pole and then crashed into a house at Kalyanapura village in Madihalli on Thursday evening. One person died in the accident after being admitted to hospital, while two others including the driver are being treated at the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences.

According to the police, at 5.30 p.m. on Thursday, a lorry loaded with wooden logs that was coming from Hagare in Belur taluk went out of control and rammed an electric pole and then the house of Thimme Gowda which was nearby. Thimme Gowda and his wife Lalitha were severely injured. The driver was also hurt. All the three were rushed to the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment. Thimme Gowda (60) succumbed to injuries on Thursday night while the other two are under treatment.

The Halebid police have registered a case against the driver. The vehicle has been seized.
