A private complaint was on Thursday filed before the Lokayukta Court against the former Minister and Deputy Leader of the Congress Legislature Party T.B. Jayachandra alleging that illegal allotment of a parking lot in a truck terminal had been made for “pecuniary gain”.
The complainant, T. Raghu, an oil mill owner in Tumkur district, alleged that in 1992, Mr. Jayachandra had got a parking lot in the Devaraj Urs Truck Terminal in Yeshwanthpur “illegally allotted in his wife, G.H. Nirmala’s name furnishing false information” that she owned a truck and rented it out earning an annual income of Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 4 lakh.
The market value of the space measuring 14.25 m x 8.7 m today was Rs. 3 crore to Rs. 4 crore, Mr. Raghu has alleged.
He accused Mr. Jayachandra of withholding this information in his declaration both before the State Election Commission and the Lokayukta.
The complainant prayed to the court to order a probe into the alleged offences punishable under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code.
Judge N.K. Sudhindra Rao then adjourned the complaint for further hearing to April 5. — PTI
