DAVANGERE: The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) has already enforced load shedding in Davangere. There has been power shutdown for couple of hours every day for a week now.

Mr. Kotappa, executive engineer, Davangere division of BESCOM, told The Hindu here on Wednesday that load shedding had begun in Davangere.

BESCOM had resorted to unscheduled load shedding for the past few days as certain quota of power had been sanctioned to Davangere district. BESCOM could not exceed its quota of power consumption, he said.

There had been power shutdown for half an hour to one hour for the past few days, he said.

Mr. Kotappa said Davangere district had been allotted 4.1 million units of power while Davangere division had been allocated 2.8 million units. BESCOM could not exceed the allocation.

Also, power consumption in the district had increased by about 40 per cent.
