The Sixth Lingayat Ganamela, a three-day religious convention organised by Basava Dharma Peetha Trust, will begin at Allamagiri near Hatkanangale town in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra from Monday.

Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, Basava Mantapa leader Mathe Mahadevi said the convention would discuss issues related to the Lingayat faith, its followers and the development of the town. There would be religious programmes, discourses, technical sessions and a workshop for women, among other events.

Devotees from across Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa are expected to take part in the event being held in the area associated with the 12th century saint Allama Prabhu.

The trust will also organise the 10th Lingayat Dharma Sammelan in Pune for three days from April 28.
