DAVANGERE: Iqbal Ansari, Minister for Labour and Wakf, has said many legislators and leaders who had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from the Janata Dal (Secular) will soon stage a comeback to the Janata Dal (S).

Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, Mr. Ansari said they repented their decision to join the BJP and discussions were on for their return to the Janata Dal (S).

He said talks in this regard were going on with the Janata Dal (S) leaders H.D. Deve Gowda and M.P. Prakash. He said such a move would not affect the coalition Government and would not strain the relationship between the Janata Dal (S) and the BJP.

He said the internal bickering in the BJP against Deputy Chief Minister Yediyurappa would not harm the coalition Government. He said it was an internal matter to be sorted out by BJP leaders.

He dismissed suggestions that Mr. Deve Gowda was interfering in administration matters.

He said Mr. Deve Gowda would oppose any move to "cheat farmers" either directly or indirectly and therefore gave some suggestions with regard to the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor project.

The Minister said he would convene a meeting of senior officers of Labour and Women and Child Welfare departments to implement the Child Labour Act more effectively in the State. Senior officers have drafted the proposed building workers' legislation, he said and added that he would seek public opinion on it before placing it before the House.
