Srinivas Gowda was caught red-handed by the villagers

BANGALORE: A lecturer in the Government Pre-University College, Harohalli, in Kanakapura Taluk of Bangalore Rural District, was assaulted, stripped of his clothes and paraded in the village on Monday, after he was reportedly caught by the public while allegedly misbehaving with a girl student.

Police gave the lecturer's name as Srinivas Gowda. He worked in the Sericulture Department of the Job Oriented Courses (JOC). Gowda had allegedly told the victim that he would fail her in the practical exams if she did not "cooperate" with him. Upon the girl assuring to "cooperate," he had asked her to come to the college at 8 a.m. Monday.

The girl informed village elders about the misdemeanour of the lecturer and came to the college. The lecturer, who waiting for the girl allegedly began making sexual advances towards here in a classroom.

The villagers, who followed the girl, caught the lecturer red-handed, tore his clothes and thrashed him.

They then paraded Gowda, who was in his underwear, on the streets of Harohalli before handing him over to the police.
