‘LEAD Prayana’, a programme by the Deshpande Foundation aimed at acquainting young leaders with eminent personalities from different fields, was launched here on Thursday.

Its founder-trustee Jayashree Deshpande and CEO Naveen Jha launched the event, in which as many as 100 students from 10 States are participating.

The foundation’s LEAD (LEaders Accelerating Development) programme is aimed at creating young leaders out of the youth. The event’s main objective is to bring out the leader in every individual participant, thereby creating a national youth movement to address the country’s most pressing issues. Students in the 18 to 25 age group from various colleges across the country have been chosen for the programme through interviews.

During the 14-day programme, participants will meet and interact with leaders from various fields, such as Ratan Tata, N.R. Narayana Murthy, Sudha Murty, Veerendra Heggade, Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami and Gururaj Deshpande, among others. During the journey, participants will cover nine districts in Karnataka.

Ms. Deshpande asked the students to look at every problem as an opportunity to broaden one’s perspective. Mr. Jha also spoke.
