Members of the Hubli Bar Association refrained from attending court proceedings here on Tuesday, protesting against the alleged derogatory statement made by Bharatiya Janata Party State president Pralhad Joshi at a public function in Dharwad on Monday.
The members held a meeting on Tuesday and subsequently decided to stage a protest. They blocked the road outside the court for some time. They said it was highly condemnable that Mr. Joshi had commented against the judiciary.
The protesters raised slogans against Mr. Joshi and called for contempt of court proceedings against him. The members also faxed a copy of the memorandum to authorities seeking action against Mr. Joshi.
In Dharwad, members of the bar association staged a demonstration against Mr. Joshi’s comments.
They submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner urging the government to take action against him.
