BANGALORE: To “mourn” the felling of trees in Lal Bagh for the Namma Metro project being implemented by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation, a “Shraddha” (last rites) was held at Lakshman Rao Park here on Sunday.

The ceremony, organised by Hasiru Usiru and Sanmathi, a women’s organisation, was held “in memory” of the trees that were felled in Lal Bagh and other places and also as a sign of protest against the destruction of greenery in the city.
