Hiriyur (Chitradurga): Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy here on Wednesday defended the State's legal team saying it had presented Karnataka's case well before the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal.

Speaking at a press conference after inaugurating the inspection bungalow here, the Chief Minister said it should not be thought that such a verdict, which went against Karnataka, was because the case was not presented properly. The State had given all details to the tribunal and the advocates had done a good job.

Mr. Kumaraswamy said it was the tribunal that had pronounced the verdict against the State. Injustice had been done to Karnataka by the award.

To a question, he said the Government had several options before it. "We are seeking the opinion of legal experts to strengthen our case," he said. Asked whether the State was ready to speak to Tamil Nadu Government on the issue, Mr. Kumaraswamy said he had no problem holding talks with Tamil Nadu if he was invited.
