May start bus service to metro stations

Jaggesh, Deputy Chairman of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), said here on Monday that the body was contemplating a tie-up with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. to introduce bus services between the metro stations and other parts of Bangalore.

A system that would enable passengers coming from other districts to travel in Bangalore city buses with the same ticket was also being considered, he said.

Making profits

The KSRTC, he said, was doing well and had received seven national-level awards. The corporation recorded a profit of Rs. 52 crore in 2010-11 against Rs. 47 crore the previous year.

Multi-axle Mercedes-Benz buses, which were popular in inter-State travel, would be introduced on routes within the State too, Mr. Jaggesh said.

North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) Chairman Mallikarjun Savakar said the NWKRTC had registered 13.6 per cent growth in revenue, and better facilities were being provided to its employees.
