KSIC exhibition begins in Dharwad

The four-day exhibition-cum-sale of Mysore silk products, which is under way at Bhavasar Mangal Karyalaya on Belgaum Road, here will provide people an opportunity to buy quality silk products of their choice.

It is being organised by Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC) to reach its products directly to the people. It offers a discount up to 30 per cent on all products. Besides, it offers instalment scheme for employees of public sector undertakings, banks and various government departments.

The exhibition, which will end on July 7, is open for public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Marketing manager of KSIC S. Philomen Raj said 80 varieties of Mysore Silk saris, including the famous Dharwad Kasuti embroidery silk saris, are on display along with other products.

He said that KSIC was celebrating centenary year this year and had introduced some special saris.

Saris ranging from Rs. 9,800 to Rs. 75,000 were on display, he said.

About the centenary celebrations, he said the State Government provided Rs. 5 crore special grant of which, Rs. 2 crore would be used to construct a centenary building in Mysore.

He said KSIC would organise a mega fashion show in Hubli-Dharwad and other cities in September.

Deputy Commissioner Darpan Jain inaugurated the exhibition.
